Ideally minimum 12 hrs. fasting.
No heavy, fatty meal for 2 days prior to testing.
No Alcohol consumption for 2 days prior to testing.
Urine Test
Urine-Routine
Morning or random MIDSTREAM urine sample to be collected in clean plastic or
glass container and sent to the laboratory in an hours time.
If more transit time is expected then the sample can be refrigerated in the lower
compartment for up to 4 hrs.
MIDSTREAM Urine Sample
Allow the initial stream of urine to pass outside, collect the middle stream in the container, allow the latter part of urine to flow outside.
URINE-CULTURE And Antibiotic Sensitivity
Local cleansing of the parts with soap and water.
MIDSTREAM urine sample is to be collected in a STERILE container and sent to the laboratory within 30 minutes.
If more transit time is expected then the sample can be refrigerated in the lower compartment for up to 2 hrs.
